This technology is the new rekeying algorithm to establish subgroups of Mobile Stations (MSs) dynamically based on the current number of MSs in WiMAX based station’s coverage area using 2 Tree Data Structures such as Set-Pruning Tree and B-tree of order 2.
This technology enables a Base Station to control and manage security keys of Mobile Stations. It optimizes the communication cost, improve computational and storage cost of the network. It guarantees strong network scalability in which it can handle many Mobile Stations and reduce the energy consumptions in Mobile Stations. This technology is useful for multicasting in group communications.
- Strong network
- Useful for Multicasting
Prospect: WiMAX users/ Wireless Communication Companies
There are 9 major telecommunication operators in Malaysia. However, currently WiMAX operator Packet One Networks (M) Sdn Bhd (P1) is the leading WiMAX provider with more than 2,000 base stations, boasting coverage of more than half of the Malaysian population. As of last valuation in 2010, P1 had a subscriber base of less than 250,000 with the current subscriber base stands at more than 550,000. The worldwide WiMAX equipment market was forecasted to increase to more than 10-fold between 2006 and 2010, when it will reach almost $5.6 billion.
